HOW MUCH FOOD IS SERVED ON THE FOOD TOUR?

Mexican Food Tours serve enough food for a complete meal. The drinks and food tastings combined with breaks for architectural, cultural, and historical insights make most participants comfortably full after our food tours.

CAN I SHOP DURING THE TOUR?

We ask that you please wait to shop until after the tour so that we can stay on our food-tasting schedule and continue with the informative tour and food tastings in a timely manner. The tours are on a schedule to arrive at each tasting location, its important to stay on schedule so the food is freshly prepared for the participants.

IS ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE TASTING INCLUDED ON THE TOUR?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to try traditional Mexican alcoholic beverages if you wish so.

COULD I GET SICK FROM EATING MEXICAN FOOD?

All the food stops on our tour have been personally tested and have never had any trouble with our visitors. We only visit clean and high quality places. For more details, please read our Terms & Conditions page.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE THE TOUR?

We highly recommend taking our food tours at the beginning of your visit, so you can get a glimpse of what Mexican food and the city has to offer. Also, the guide’s recommendations can make your visit richer.

WHAT TYPES OF FOODS ARE SERVED ON THE TOUR?

Mexican eateries, specialty food shops and local restaurants provide authentic mexican food from all around the country.

WHAT IF I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS OR ALLERGIES?

Please be sure to let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, allergy, etc.) when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know in advance, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

ARE THERE VEGETARIAN OPTIONS ON THE TOUR?

We offer a vegetarian menu to fit your needs, please let us know in advance so we can arrange this for you.

ARE ANY BEVERAGES SERVED ON THE TOUR?

All Mexican Food Tours have a drink tasting included in the tour. However, you are welcome to bring your own water and/or beverage

ARE CAMERAS ALLOWED ON THE TOUR?

Yes. Cameras and filming are allowed during the tour. We strongly encourage participants to take photos during the tour and upload them on social media under the hashtag #MexicanFoodTours.

HOW MUCH WALKING IS INVOLVED? IS IT A FAST-PACED TOUR?

Tours generally last between 2.5 and 3 hours and participants can expect to be standing or walking for a majority of the time. We always walk at a moderate pace.

IS THE TOUR WHEELCHAIR AND BABY STROLLER ACCESSIBLE?

The Polanco Mexican Food Tour route and tasting establishments is wheelchair and baby stroller friendly and accessible. However, the San Juan Market alleys are a bit narrow so wheelchair and baby stroller are difficult to suit. Same goes for San Angel, which has cobbled streets that make accessibility difficult.

DO YOUR TOURS HAVE ANYTHING TO OFFER A MEXICO CITY’S RESIDENT?

Mexican Food Tours attendees can come from all over the world, but also from within the city. Mexico locals participate to learn about the neighborhoods and the city in which they live in as well as take advantage of knowing the best specialty food store locations and local restaurants in Mexico City’s tastiest neighborhoods like Polanco, San Angel or the folckore of Centro Historico San Juan Market tour. ARE GIFT CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE?

Yes, Mexican Food Tour Gift Certificates are available for all tours offered. To purchase or learn more about our gift certificates, please visit our Gift Certificates page and submit a Gift Certificate Request Form. A member of Mexican Food Tour staff will respond to your request within 24 hours.

ARE TOURS OFFERED IN ENGLISH?

Yes, our tours are offered in English. Our guides are mostly Mexicans who speak fluent English. However, we do offer Spanish spoken tours upon request.

DOES THE TOUR LEADER ACCEPT GRATUITIES?

Gratuities are greatly appreciated. The standard gratuity in the service industry is 15% to 20%.

CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE GROUP TOUR?

Yes, Mexican Food Tours Private Group Tours are available for all tours offered. To set up a tour or learn more, please visit our Private Group Tours page and submit a Private Group Tour Request Form. A member of Mexican Food Tours staff will respond within 1 business day.

DO I PAY IN US DOLLARS OR MEXICAN PESOS?

You can pay in both currencies, we accept US dollars and Mexican pesos.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

The tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. However, we advise to check the weather conditions for your days’ event and dress appropriately.

IF I AM BRINGING AN INFANT/VERY YOUNG CHILD, DO I NEED TO PURCHASE A TICKET FOR THEM?

If you are bringing an infant/very young child and they will not be participating in the tastings, you do not need to purchase a ticket for them. However, please do let us know if you will be attending with an infant or young child when you purchase tickets in the Notes section.

IS THERE PARKING NEAR THE TOUR MEETING POINT?

Yes, there is both private and public parking located near the meeting point of Polanco, San Angel and San Juan Market Mexican Food Tours. Specific parking details are included in the meeting location directions after purchasing ticket(s).

DO WE ONLY WALK AROUND AND SAMPLE FOOD?

Absolutely not! Mexican Food Tours combines architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique 3-hour experience. Imagine walking through Mexico City and eating our most delicious foods while getting a cultural talk from a local.

IF A FOOD TOUR IS SOLD OUT, CAN I GET ON A WAITING LIST?

We do not provide a waiting list. If a date and time is sold out, there is always a good chance that we will add an additional tour on that day. Please email us to let us know what date you are interested in if you do not see availability.

WHAT ABOUT TAKING CHILDREN ON THE TOUR?

While we offer children tickets, our tours are close to three hours long and some children have a limited attention span and therefore the tour may not be appropriate for some of them. Parents, who know their children best, should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.

The cooking classes are not child friendly because of the use of knives, fire etc. So we do not sell any child ticket for this service.

DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE TICKETS IN ADVANCE? CAN I PAY CASH?

We recommend to buy your tickets before hand so we can confirm your spot on the tour. However, you can contact us to know if we can accommodate you in a running tour. To maximize your chances of getting the day, time, and number of tickets you prefer, please book well in advance. Tickets can be purchased with any credit card.
